March is literacy month and the celebration of Dr. Suess’ birthday. To commemorate this month, I have challenged the students of Our Lady of Fatima School to read 100,000 minutes between today, March 5th, and April 23rd. This daunting number works out to each student reading 15 minutes per night between now and April 23rd. The prize for successful completion of the challenge will be a free barbecue lunch with all the trimmings for the entire student body. Children in grades PreK and Kindergarten may have their parents read TO them for 15 minutes daily.

Today your children have received a reading log to help them record their reading time. Reading logs should be returned to their teacher, once completed, and signed by their parents. Each sheet records 27 days of reading time. Once your reading log is completed, students may turn it in and receive a new copy of the reading log to finish the challenge.

Catholic Schools Week was great fun! We would like to thank all the families who visited our Open House.

We would like to thank Matthew Aufieri, Cristina Bullock and Vivian Davidson who shared their Catholic School experiences with us at each Mass last week.

Our Lady of Fatima School collected food for the Friars of the Renewal. We collected 17 boxes of food weighing 522 lbs!
The food collected ranged from soup, cereal, pasta, noodles and canned meals. Thanks to all our families for such a great effort!

Monsignor McManus was our “principal of the day” on Tuesday. Great job, Monsignor, and thanks for proclaiming February 17th as a free dress down day!
